Odoo for transport and distribution.

Multi-warehouse, multi-country, one operational backbone. Whether you run cross-border transport, multi-site distribution, or fulfilment for B2B partners, the work is the same: putting the order, the route, the stock and the invoice on one platform that connects to the WMS, TMS and EDI systems that have to stay specialist.

Industry knowledge

We understand transport and distribution, that's why it works.

Transport operators, distribution businesses and multi-site fulfilment holdings look like one industry from the outside. Inside, they all stitch a stack of specialist tools together to keep moving: a TMS for routes, a WMS for stock, an EDI broker for partner data, a finance package for invoicing. Configured deliberately, Odoo replaces the stack-around-the-stack with one operational backbone that integrates cleanly with the specialist layers that have to stay specialist.

  • Dispatch on one screen, invoicing on another.

A transport order starts in dispatch, moves through CMR and customs paperwork, and ends in invoicing. Each step lives in a different system, and the data flowing between them is rekeyed or reconciled by hand. The result is a working week of finance time spent putting numbers back together that should already match.

  • Stock visible in one warehouse, not the next.

Each warehouse has its own stock view, sometimes its own system. Inter-site transfers happen on a spreadsheet and a phone call. Customer orders pick from whichever site looks closest, not whichever site is fastest. Working capital is locked in stock nobody can see together.

  • Group-level margin nobody can compute.

Multiple entities, multiple clients, multiple service lines. The finance team consolidates margin per entity at quarter-end with intercompany reconciliation that takes a week. Operations sees activity, finance sees results, and the gap between them is where margin gets lost.

What we deliver

Deep expertise where it matters most.

Dynapps is a leading Odoo implementation partner and brings earned knowledge from implementations across transport, distribution and multi-site fulfilment. A transport operator going cross-border with cleaner CMR and EDI flows. A distributor seeing real-time stock across sites instead of weekly. A logistics holding consolidating intercompany margin in days instead of a week. Different operations, one platform, configured to yours. You are not buying a generic ERP and hoping it fits logistics, you are getting Odoo set up around the way you actually run.

How we work together

A proven approach. Your dedicated team.

End-to-end Odoo solutions, from the first conversation to ongoing optimisation.

  • 1

    Discovery

We map your operation: which sites, which clients, which carriers, which EDI partners, and which specialist systems sit between you and the cash. The output is a clear picture of where Odoo replaces, where it integrates, and which master-data gaps decide whether the implementation lands or stalls.

  • 2

    Configuration

We configure the patterns that fit your operation: transport order-to-cash, multi-warehouse with owner-field for client-owned stock, intercompany flows for holdings, EDI templates for your partner network. Integrations to WMS, TMS, carrier APIs and accounting are wired in deliberately.

  • 3

    Go-live & training

Data migration tested against your own customer list, SKU base, contract base and EDI partner mapping. Dispatchers, warehouse staff, finance and operations trained on the workflows they will actually use from day one.

  • 4

    Continuous improvement

We keep improving as you grow. New clients, new sites, new countries, new integrations. The platform evolves with the business; we are still there after go-live, not gone.

The migration to Odoo was far more impactful than our physical move of two companies. That’s when you need a partner who works in a structured and planned manner.

Industry challenges

Challenges we see most in transport and distribution.

  • Transport order-to-cash split across systems

Dispatch in a legacy TMS, invoicing rebuilt by hand from CMR, EDI split between email and a van. Every order is a reconciliation problem across three systems before it becomes cash.

  • Stock visible per site, not as a group

Each warehouse has its own stock view, sometimes its own system. Inter-site transfers run on spreadsheet and phone. Working capital sits locked in stock nobody can see together.

  • EDI partner integration that drains the IT roadmap

Every new retailer or carrier means another EDI mapping project, with manual exceptions for each partner's quirks. The projects keep eating budget and roadmap meant for operational work.

  • Multi-entity margin visible too late

Holdings consolidate at quarter-end, intercompany reconciliation takes a week. Operations sees activity in real time, finance sees results three weeks late, and margin decisions come too slowly.

Questions, answered

Everything you need to know about Odoo for transport and distribution.

  • Yes. Odoo is well suited to logistics companies running 3PL warehousing, freight forwarding, last-mile delivery or customs operations, putting orders, inventory, invoicing and finance on one platform. Whether it fits end-to-end depends on warehouse depth and transport scope; specialist WMS or TMS may sit alongside.

  • Yes. Odoo multi-warehouse handles distinct sites with their own dock scheduling, picking strategies (FEFO, FIFO, wave, batch, cluster), storage zones and KPI views, all on one platform. Multi-company configuration adds separate legal entities, currencies and chart of accounts per country, with intercompany flows for goods movements, services and invoicing handled natively. Routes govern where each product is produced, stocked and shipped from across the network. Consolidated reporting aggregates dock turnaround, picking productivity, inventory accuracy and freight cost across warehouses and entities. Cross-border flows handle reverse-charge VAT, Peppol BIS e-invoicing where mandated and Incoterms-driven cost allocation. In our experience, the scaling work is the master data harmonisation across sites, not the technology. Dynapps remains an Odoo implementation partner. We do that harmonisation as part of the implementation, not as a side task.

  • Partially. Odoo Inventory delivers WMS depth suitable for many 3PL operations: multi-client warehousing, lot and serial tracking, dock scheduling, RF scanning, picking strategies. For high-throughput operations with putwall, voice picking or deep automation, a specialist WMS typically sits alongside Odoo, integrated via API.

  • Odoo supports logistics EDI through dedicated connectors and middleware for the major EDIFACT message types. Transport messages: IFTMIN for instruction to forwarders, IFTSTA for status updates back to the shipper, IFTMBF for booking confirmation. Order and invoicing messages: ORDERS, ORDRSP, DESADV with SSCC pallet identifiers, INVOIC, RECADV for receipt confirmation. Peppol BIS handles e-invoicing across BE, NL, FR and ES where mandated. Each shipper or retailer has its own EDIFACT subset and segment-level dialect, which is handled in the integration layer rather than core Odoo. The work is rarely the protocol. It is the partner-specific data mappings, the master-data alignment with each shipper's product and location codes, and the exception-handling workflow when messages fail. Dynapps brings that mapping discipline. We do not sell an EDI product. We make EDI a non-issue in production.

  • Odoo holds the commercial and product data that customs declarations need: HS codes per product, country of origin, EORI numbers, Incoterms per shipment, declared value, currency conversion, supplier and customer master. Commercial invoices, packing lists and certificates of origin generate from this data. Direct filing of NCTS declarations, T1 and T2 transit documents or EUR.1 movement certificates typically runs through a specialist customs broker system that integrates with Odoo for data, since customs filing requires accredited connections to national customs authorities. Bonded warehouse operations are configured through dedicated stock locations with duty status tracking, with the formal customs status held in the broker system. In our experience, this split keeps both systems clean: Odoo for the commerce, broker for the regulatory filing. Dynapps remains an Odoo implementation partner. We design the data flow so customs paperwork is a downstream output, not a parallel workload.
